First Large Multi-Flora Rose Removal
METHOD EXPERIMENT
I purchased a pair of long-handled pruners, and cut back the stems first. Using the pruners, I bundled the rose into a tarp and hauled it out without spreading any pieces. Then cut the trunk, and brushed with herbicide.
After purchasing a large batch of seedlings from our local CISMA, I needed to plant them fairly soon; so I chose areas that were fairly clear. I’m interested to see if Nannyberry does well around the vernal pool before removing invasives from this area.
I don’t have room for the Oak seedlings yet, so I placed them in an area that I can enclose and protect for now…hopefully a good start.
MORELS!
(20 in this one small area.) Unfortunately, they are growing around invasive and poisonous Lilly of the Valley. I’ll check on possible danger–otherwise the deer will be happy!
Lilly of the Valley
This will be one of the most difficult removals. Gloved Herbicide application, and dropping a bit into the leaflets had no effect several days later. I will try digging next, but it’s a large area, so I’ll wait until it’s warm enough to seed with Grasses immediately afterward.
