Walnut Stump & Friends

April 2, 2023

First signs of Spring. April Flowers bring…a few bright spots after removal of a large juglone-machine walnut. These beauties were short-lived; as they are not Native and will spread. I’ll be brave and do the right thing and transplant them to the protected house garden, then remove the stump. I’ve found contradicting information about juglone chips and stumps affecting soil, but by personal experience, the wood does leach into the soil. I won’t be leaving stumps or using Walnut wood chips where I want plants to be healthy.
Musings…
Be happy for the little things.
Patience is a virtue.
All good things come to those who wait.
Good heavens, will this cold April weather will ever end!
I can’t wait until summer…
