Trying to be patient, but I want to PLANT SOMETHING!

The border is ready for one last clearing, and then seeding. We’re in our 3rd year with this area, but we are really seeing the fruits of our labors! I’ll use spot herbicide on the larger area and pull invasive seedlings in the area that is partially planted.

In preparation, I separated seed gathered last year and prepped them to add to future seed mixes. I tried placing the branches in brown paper compost bags over the winter, leaving the top open to avoid mildew, and they seem pretty good! We’ll see if they grow…Rudbeckia, Bergamot (Purple and Red,) Blazing Star and Goldenrod. I’m hoping to use the areas around the house as nurseries for seed in other areas.
