No-Mow Grow

May 12, 2023

The grasses are here! First order, going in today…split between the river berm and Area 3. The challenge, marking them properly so they don’t get caught up in removal of invasives that kept their heads in the dirt until Spring.

Prairie Moon packaging was good; the plants are in great shape. But it took me a bit to realize I needed to poke the plug up from the bottom…not tug from the top.

Bouteloua curtipendula – Side-oats Grama
Schizachyrium scoparium – Little Bluestem
Sporobolus heterolepis (Prairie Dropseed)
Andropogon gerardii – Big Bluestem
