After 2 rounds of clearing invasive groundcover, I decided to take advantage of late March and try some early spring stratification.
The species I chose require 60 days of stratification. As our weather is still fairly cool, but warming, I made my mix, added some sand for bulk, and spread the mix below on the house border area (the first area cleaned.)
These seeds are planted around mature plants placed last year, so it won’t be bare if the seeds don’t take off for another year. But we’re going for the meadow look, and the sooner I can get away from mulching between well-spaced plants, the better.
